What I want to do and what I need to do seem to be on opposite faces of a coin these days. I want to study musical theory in a greater depth, but I also have to contend with learning about the world of computing for my degree.
I plan to delve into the "Computer Musician" series of books over the summer. I've found them to contain lots of relevant information when skimming over them. I also have plenty tutorial videos to keep me amused which are a little bit more fun than reading from a book. The VTC Mixing Essentials seems to be a good viewing.
Summer should be fun!

Track Review: Jace Syntax - Something 4 U
Initial Impressions
Good work Jace!
- Nice old school feel to this release, complemented by an 808/909 styled drum track, 80's electro synths and deep house bassline.
- The track makes good use of the sound field, all elements sit nicely and have their own space in the mix.
- Nice and relaxing, pleasing to listen to.
- I'm not entirely sure the 80s electro synth bassline is perfect for the mix, but it should be noted I am listening via headphones. It's a catchy bassline regardless of the patch used.
- Love the pads, they take the mind into a dreamy blissful state.
- The vocals are used sparingly, and add a subtle humanised touch to the track.
Good work Jace!
